The Tabernacle URC Mission for Worship

We are building a congregation to worship in the name of Jesus as part of the United Reformed Church. Our church mission statements are:

• Our Faith is at the Heart of all we do.
• We seek to develop as an engaging, joyful, faithful and hopeful Church Community reaching out to all individuals.
• We are a Church that is active and participative in the life of the Community that it serves.
• We are creative and seek new avenues in forming active partnerships with other local agencies. Seeking strength in diversity rather than similarity, we will seek to reach out to all offering support, hope and reconciliation.

The Tabernacle URC Mission for the Community

The Tabernacle Church is located in the centre of Pembroke and we are working to use our building and church fellowship to the full benefit of the residents and visitors of this town. We are developing the Tabernacle Hub to tackle local issues, to meet the needs of local people and to provide spiritual engagement within the context of Christian worship. Our mission statements for the community are:

• We are a Church that is active and participative in the life of the Community that it serves.
• We are creative and seek new avenues in forming active partnerships with other local agencies. Seeking strength in diversity rather than similarity, we will seek to reach out to all offering support, hope and reconciliation. 

Our work towards this mission includes:

• Our hosting of the Kindergarten Nursery for more than 20 years, seeking to provide better facilities through a re-development and extension of the Church Buildings.
• Our plan to develop the Medieval Burgage Plot at the rear of the Church into a Community Garden, for reflection, contemplation and recreation in conjunction with Pembroke 21C Community Association and the Pembroke Town Walls Trust.
• Our continued association with the Pembroke Story, opening the Church regularly, telling the story of our Community through the words of the people themselves.
•  Our relationship with the Cultural heart of our Community, providing a base for the Art Group to work from and hosting a programme of concerts designed to encourage emerging musicians and vocalists from within the Community.
• Our support for PATCH by providing a drop off point for donations towards the Foodbank within Pembroke. 
• Our desire to provide a base for Counselling Services within the Town, using Cruse and Citizens Advice Bureau as potential partners. Linking this to the provision of a drop in coffee facility run by church members to offer practical side by side support. 

Our mission is that whenever anyone comes to Tabernacle Hub, whether looking for advice, food, community engagement or even spiritual resources, they will find what they need and are looking for – that one gift that might change a life and begin a journey away from poverty.
